AIRoV 2026 Workshop • 3 hours

Digital Transformation of Agriculture & Animal Science (DTA2S)

The DTA2S workshop, continuing the tradition of previous workshops of AI and Robotics in Agriculture and Digital Transformation of Animal Science Research, provides an interdisciplinary platform to explore how digital technologies can revolutionize animal science and agricultural research. The workshop bridges the gap between fundamental research in AI, robotics, and vision and their practical application in complex biological environments. By uniting academic researchers, industry innovators, and practitioners, it fosters a multi-disciplinary community that moves beyond siloed approaches to create integrated systems that are technologically advanced, ethically sound, and economically viable.

Workshop Description

The agricultural sector faces several critical challenges, including increasing food production for a growing population, reducing environmental footprints under climate change, transitioning to sustainable agricultural practices, and meeting rising animal welfare standards. Addressing these demands requires fundamental digital transformation rather than incremental change. AI and robotics are increasingly recognized as key technologies to enable resource-efficient farming, automate labor-intensive tasks, and support climate change adaptation, significantly contributing to environmental protection while enhancing productivity and resilience.

Through interdisciplinary collaboration, the workshop aims to accelerate the integration of advanced digital solutions into animal science and agricultural practice. Attendees will gain insights into current trends, challenges, and future directions at this rapidly evolving intersection, ultimately contributing to more efficient, sustainable, and resilient food production systems. The workshop will act as a catalyst for new collaborations, ensuring that the Austrian and international research landscape remains at the forefront of the global AgTech revolution.

General topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • AI and Robotics in livestock, Precision Livestock Farming (PLF)

Important Dates

  • Paper submission deadline: 2026-03-14 (extended)
  • Notification of acceptance: 2026-03-24

Submission

We solicit full papers (8 pages) of original, unpublished work and application spotlight papers (extended abstracts) (2-4 pages) focusing on the solution of practical problems. Paper lengths exclude references. All submitted papers will undergo a double-blind peer review process by the program committee. Symposium proceedings will be published electronically by TU Wien Library, covering all participating workshops and with a DOI for each paper.

Submit your paper here: CMT

If logging in to the general CMT-system select the track DTAAS.

The papers need to be to follow the format given on the AIRoV homepage.

Workshop Highlights

  • Demo Corner: We encourage contributors to bring small-scale prototypes or live demos.
  • Industry-Research Bridge: A dedicated slot for Austrian AgTech startups to present "Real-World Challenges" to the academic audience.
