Getting to the AIRoV venue

By Public Transport

The easiest way is to install the “Klagenfurt Mobil” app. You can also get it from Google Play or Apple Store. The app allows for planning your trips and for buying tickets as well. Tickets can also be bought from drivers on buses, but are slightly more expensive than in the app.

The best bus stop for AIRoV is “Universität”, it is served by lines C, 4, 6, and 8, and it is just across the small park from the main entrance. Line C is the best for reaching the city center (“Heiligengeistplatz” is the main bus exchange and right in the city center). C, 4, and 6 also go to the main railway station. In case you wonder, lines with a letter run more frequently than those with a number. The closest bus stop for the conference dinner on Monday is “Europapark”, served by C, 4, and 8.

Then nearest railway stop near the university is called “Klagenfurt West”. It is within 15-20 minutes walking distance or a short bus ride. Please note that only regional trains stop there. About half of the C buses go there (the other half to Strandbad) and 8 also goes there to and from the university.

By Car

There are some “pay and display” car parks at the campus, the current rate is 0.50 EUR per 30 minutes or 7 EUR for a day ticket. More information can be found here. The most convenient car parks for AIRoV are to the east and south-east of the main entrance, both of these are accessed from Nautilusweg. There is also some on-street parking for free, e.g. in Universitätsstraße or Nautilusweg, but be careful, as some spaces have limited permitted parking duration.

Entering the main university building

While there are many entrances, the only public access is the Main Entrance. All other entrances require an RFID chip to unlock; employee cards and student cards have this; al of these doors open for exiting the building, though. The only chance to enter through one of these without a suitable RFID is waiting for someone to unlock the door. If you come by bus or park at the east or south parking lot, the main entrance is closest anyway.

If you stay at Seepark Hotel, the closest entrance would be at “Vorstufe” (which was the first university building), but you would need to wait for somebody to open the door and let you in. Otherwise, please use this plan to enter the building over a staircase.

Within the building

Lunch

Lunch will be served at Mensa, which is in a different building, a few minutes walk twords the east. Please look at the campus plan or the below picture.
